A Gathering
Hoover Company employees, past and present, are invited to Hoover Park on Saturday, Sept. 8 from 1 to 5 p.m. to reconnect and reminisce.
This informal event is planned to celebrate the world-recognized, century old Hoover brand name as well as the proud, dedicated people whose talent made the success possible. The Company was founded in North Canton in 1908.
Rain or shine, the date is firm. Admission:free. RSVPs not necessary. Spouses welcome.

Songs for the Cause
VOCI (Voices of Canton), in collaboration with Carrabba’s Italian Grill and Breast Cancer Awareness, will host a dinner-concert at Community Christian Church, 210 North Main St. in North Canton on Tuesday, Sept. 18.
There will be two seatings for dinner: 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. After each seating, VOCI
Concert Singers will entertain guests in the sanctuary of Community Christian Church with a program of upbeat secular music, including Put On A Happy Face, Nothing Can Stop Me Now and Smile, Darn Ya, Smile.
The menu is Chicken Marsala, Penne Pomodoro, Creamy Parmesan House Salad, Bread
and Sogno di Chocolate. Ticket: $12.
VOCI has a vested interested in this concern. The lives of five singers have been impacted by breast cancer. VOCI will donate 50 percent of the concert proceeds to the American Cancer Society to fund breast cancer research and awareness.
This elite choral group is a 501-C3 non-profit organization based at the Canton Cultural Center for the Arts.

Save the date to polka
It’s a bit early, but the irrepressible Tony Hilinski and the Polonia Society of St. Paul Parish want to you to save Saturday evening, Oct. 13 for to polka to the music of Jason Uzl and the Ethic Jazz band. Dinner at 6 p.m. Music starts at 7 p.m. Polish food and beverages available. Hilinski reports that more than 200 happy people attended last year’s first-ever polka dance.

Calling all Crafters...Applications are still available for Northwood PTA's Annual Craft Show. The juried show will be held Saturday, October 20 at Hoover High School from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Vendor chairperson Tina Morris said she is looking for applicants with “professional quality, hand-crafted items.” Each year approximately 150 crafters participate at the fundraiser. Spaces are $60. “Vendors love this show and many come from far away. They always do well,” Morris said.
