Little Art Gallery

By Dottie McGrew

In the Gallery

The Little Art Gallery opens its fall season with two innovative exhibits:
“Portraits” by Marti Jones Dixon and “Spirituality,” sculptures by Chris Wurst. The exhibits will continue through Sept. 23.

Dixon’s pieces feature paintings of the human figure. Particularly interesting is her series “Portraits in Parts,” in which pieces are interchangeable. Dixon, who holds a degree in Studio Art from Kent State University, has been painting for more than five years. This is her first solo show as a painter.

Many of Wurst’s pieces are abstract representations, done in plaster over wire, of relationships and spirituality. A graduate of Walsh University, Wurst says his passion for sculpting was inspired by art instructors Jim Weckbacher and Joanne Latavo.
