Cabin fever is a frustrating situation. We all know the cure: get out, go do something! The dilemma? Who wants to venture far from home if you have to pack blankets, snow shovels, granola bars and water in the trunk...just in case?
Last month we had visitors from Pittsburgh and they were very impressed with the amount of things to do in North Canton.
After reading February's issue of Our Town featuring the article about Hoover's Beauty & the Beast” our guests packed a copy to take home and show their school's choir director what can be accomplished with a strong school system and community support.
Then, they attended the Rising Star vocal competition and for $5 a ticket, that's right, less than the cost of a first-run movie, they were entertained for over two hours by top-notch singers. Another set of visitors spent a fun-filled evening at the Fieldcrest enjoying the North Canton Playhouse's show “Run For Your Wife” and were still chuckling over the characters' antics when they left for home.
Our guests repeatedly raved about how lucky we are to have such a variety of reasonably priced entertainment opportunities without the hassle of traffic or searching for parking spots. Sometimes it takes outsiders' perspectives for us to realize our good fortune. Keep an eye on Our Town's Arts Section, Around Our Town, and the Community Calendar and you'll find many ways to cure Cabin Fever - or at least alleviate some of the symptoms.
