LETTER FROM OUR EDITOR

By DONNA NICKEL

Are you hearing voices? We hope so!
Just days ago, a couple of us happened to converge on Our Town's office at the same time and ended up talking about the recent growth of the writing staff. I believe it's a good thing for several reasons, but mostly I enjoy hearing the different “voices” of the writers. Writing can be a lonely job; sometimes it's just me, the keyboard and a cup of tea (and maybe a bag of Doritos if I'm really stressed) in the wee hours. What makes it easier, for me at least, is imagining how the audience – Our Town readers – is going to “hear” my articles. So lend us an ear each time you pick up a copy of Our Town and enjoy the variety of writing styles as you would a pleasant, informative conversation with your neighbors.
Turn to page ___ and many of you will recognize our newest writer's familiar face. Former North Canton School District superintendent (1987-95) Dr. Robert Roden will be writing a regular parenting column for Our Town. His resume both professional (teacher, principal, superintendent) and personal (parent of five adult children, 12 grandchildren) proves he's a well-qualified voice of experience on family and child-raising topics.
Finally, all of us at Our Town wish Susan Andrews, our graphics person since the first issue of this publication, much success as she continues her education. We also welcome Nancy Blucker and Kelsey Kohler to the graphics/layout staff and look forward to their contributions.
