Mayor David Held Speaks to Our Town

The Thanksgiving Holiday is just around the corner, and soon many of us will be gathering with family and friends to celebrate and give thanks for our many blessings. Many of us have established traditions that are carried on one year after another. In some families these traditions have been passed on from one generation to the next.
In our family there is one tradition that I have come to appreciate the most. This tradition takes place at the dinner table as each person shares with those gathered what they are most thankful for. I have found that this traditon most often brings tears to the eyes of those present. In some instances this tradition has brought about reconciliation and laughter as well. More importantly, this tradition signifies the importance of maintaining loving relationships and a thankful heart.
Recently, I was invited to celebrate the “The Lights on After School” program at the North Canton YMCA. Paul Beinlich, Sherry Sampson, and Rob Dent organized the event and did a great job! The children enjoyed a short play performed with the help of the middle school students and were also presented with a Mayor’s Proclamation signifying the day. This YMCA program is one of many programs throughout our city where relationships are built and children can learn the importance of caring for their neighbor.
As your Mayor, I am most thankful for the opportunity to serve you. I am also thankful to live and work in a community where people care about people.

Take care and God Bless,

Mayor David Held
