The City of North Canton will be facing many challenges over the next few years. It is the goal of this administration to expand our tax base and at the same time seek new ways to reduce the city’s operating expenses without compromising our safety forces and service to the community.
Over the past six years the city has experienced a 15% reduction in our income tax collections. Through various “belt tightening” measures city council and the administration have worked in cooperation to achieve a balanced budget for 2007. In addition, we are seeking new ways to expand our tax base and economically redevelop our city.
In order to assist in this area the North Canton Economic Development Task Force was created. The task force first members met in the beginning of 2006 and have worked very hard to develop a set of recommendations that will help our community grow and redevelop. A copy of the Economic Development Task Force’s report was presented recently to City Council for consideration and review.
A special thanks to our Task Force members for their time and dedication. By working together we can keep our community safe and strong for today and in the future.
Take care and God Bless,
Mayor David Held
